On this lovely Sunday morning, I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce you to our second What-to-where girl of the month. For those of you who need a refresher this is basically a small section of our blog dedicated to some of the talented people that inspire our daily life. Last month we had a 5 min chat with jewellery designer Alicia Brion and this month we sit down with one of the creative minds behind the Helmer bags: Michelle Helmer.
Add 3 strong women
A strong taste of aesthetic
an illustrious following
Michelle comes from a multicultural family, born in Olso, Norway of a Jamaican mother and a Norwegian father. She spent her childhood between Montpellier and Geneva before heading to university in Paris, New York and London. Michelle had always spoken about creating a line with her mother and sister, a line that would represent their international background and love of travelling. That’s basically how the Helmer bags originated.
Michelle’s signature style is simple yet colourful, she privileges comfort during the day as she loves walking and generally end ups wearing a pair of jeans (J Brand / Zara) with a Tee. She infuses colour and fun into her look by accessorising: bags (Helmer of course), hats (Whistles/ Maison Michel) and scarves. At night on the other hand she becomes much more feminine and will, more often than not, be seen in a dress ( Balmain/ Emilio Pucci/ Stella McCartney) and heels (Gianvito Rossi).
Mimi, as her friends call her, likes to keep her make-up quite simple. She uses the BB cream from Bobbi Brown, the Nars bronzer (‘casino’ “it suits anyone trust me” she says) and the Chunky Stick for the lips from Clinic, easy to apply and moisturising at the same time. For a natural summer body she uses Nuxe tinted oil, it gives a golden touch and leaves you feeling silky smooth.
Mimi is the ultimate social butterfly and food lover. During the day you will catch her at Jaks bar on Walton street or at l’Eto for a healthy salad. On the other hand, in the evening you are most likely spot her at the counter of Zuma or Dinings indulging in Sushi. Other hotspots on Mimi’s list are Arts club and Ceviche in Soho where they make the best Pisco sour.
Michelle wears Helmer bags because they really are the perfect every day bag for a city girl. Light and spacious they can fit anything a girl could need, including laptop and gym clothes. Both chic and versatile these bags cater for both sophisticated nights out and casual days. One of the best characteristics of the Helmer bags is the touch; the python gets softer with time.
The first thing you spot in Mimi’s flat are the Chesterfield couches. They give a retro touch, which is tastefully paired up with ultra-modern furniture and great photography.

Skiing in February?
Gstaad! Although she does agree with those who say there are better places to ski, Gstaad is still her favourite by far. A cute town, great food, familiar faces, beautiful spas, ski slopes and Greengo, what more does one need?!
