Heading off to French Riviera for a much needed vacation… St Tropez perhaps ?
One of the most exclusive summer destinations where celebrities come in by the yachtful. Although many associate St Tropez’s popularity to Brigitte Bardot, it was in fact made popular by neo impressionist painter Paul Signac, who used to gather there with his artist friend Matisse.
Later on in the 20th century St Tropez basically became an extension to Paris’ left bank, where poets Jean-Paul Sartre ,Simone de Beauvoir and actress Marlene Dietrich used to gather. In 1956, And God Created Woman was released featuring Brigitte Bardot, from then on there was no going back…
St Tropez has since been associated with bohemian living…which in other words means you will need these 3 basic things to fit in:
– killer tan
– bare legs
– Straw basket / Tropeziennes sandals
So you will be wondering what to wear in St Tropez ? If you keep those 3 basics in mind the rest of your outfit will come together easily. Chose a lightweight cotton or linen dress / romper as temperatures can get really high and floaty garments that aren’t skin tight will help you keep cool. Combine with the Tropezienne gladiator and a natural raffia basket and you’ll be set to stroll around the Place des Lices market like a local.
PS: Just make sure to avoid the following which are likely to attract the wrong kind of attention:
-Oversized sunglasses- Don’t match the size of your shades to the size of your dream yacht..
-Avoid strass on the beach at all cost
-Fake tan streaks
